So I had just pressed the red ‘Publish’ button on my TextPattern Editor for the previous blog entry when my power went out. And i mean totally out. A total power outage in affluent California.
I didn’t even get to see the lovely HTML that says, “Post submitted.”

The lights just came back on 5 minutes ago, and i must say, only in times of loss do we realize what’s important to us.

My entire neighbourhood was listless without power, but also much more sociable =) Suddenly everyone flooded the roads outside and we started making idle conversations. The grass was greener and the air was sweeter.

Apparently the blackout affected 11 000 homes in California.

But FIVE hours was waay too long. Especially when it went dark.
I was using my bicycle torch to navigate around the house and it wasn’t nice stumbling into things in the dark.

Apparently this is the first time in 8 years this has happened, according to a neighbour. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again. Bleh.

Hope Duquesne Electricity in Pittsburgh does a better job.
